Set up PFX Trade Copier. Two terminals, one channel.

The copier sends trades from one MetaTrader 5 terminal to others on the same computer. You set one terminal as the Sender and the others as Receivers, and give them the same Channel ID. Start on demo accounts. The copier opens real trades on whatever accounts you connect.

Nothing copies until both sides are set.

The copier does nothing until a Sender and a Receiver share the same Channel ID. If a step doesn't look like the picture, that's normal: open the "Not seeing it?" box under it.

Before you start

Three checks. Tick them as you go.

Words you'll see. Sender = the account trades are copied from. Receiver = an account that follows. Channel ID = the name that pairs them.
1

Install it

From the MQL5 Market it installs itself.

  1. If you bought it from the MQL5 Market, it is already installed. Skip to step 2.
  2. Otherwise copy the file into each terminal's MQL5\Experts folder, then right-click Navigator and choose Refresh.
Not seeing it?

It doesn't appear in Navigator. Right-click Navigator and press Refresh. Check the file is inside the Experts folder of that terminal.

2

Set the Sender

On the account you copy from.

  1. Drag the EA onto any one chart. The symbol and timeframe don't matter.
  2. Set Role of this terminal to Sender.
  3. Type a Channel ID, such as MyCopier.
The role starts blank on purpose. Press OK without choosing, and the EA stops and asks you to pick Sender or Receiver.
Not seeing it?

It stopped and asked me to choose a role. That is correct. Pick Sender for the source account, then press OK.

3

Set each Receiver

On every account that should follow.

  1. Drag the EA onto any one chart on each follower account.
  2. Set Role of this terminal to Receiver.
  3. Type the exact same Channel ID as the Sender.
Even a small difference in the Channel ID means nothing happens, and nothing tells you it failed.
Not seeing it?

Nothing copies. Check both Channel IDs match letter for letter, including capitals and spaces.

4

Turn on Algo Trading

On every terminal.

  1. Press the Algo Trading button on the toolbar of every terminal.
  2. Check it is green on each one.
Not seeing it?

The button is grey. Click it so it turns green. The copier cannot place copied trades without it.

5

Check it worked

The panel and the Experts log tell you what is connected.

  1. On the Receiver, the on-chart panel shows the Sender as connected.
  2. The Experts tab prints a line such as PFX Trade Copier v1.82 | RECEIVER | Channel: MyCopier when it starts.
  3. Open a small trade on the source account. It should appear on the Receiver within a second, with an alert.
On the Sender side the log says TRANSMITTER rather than Sender. It means the same thing. The setting you choose is Sender.
Not seeing it?

The panel says not connected. Check the Channel ID on both sides, and that both terminals are on this computer.

The trade didn't copy. Check Algo Trading is green on both terminals, and that the magic number filter on the Receiver isn't skipping the trade.

6

Avoid the common traps

Five things catch most people out.

  1. One instance per account. Two Receivers on one account copy every trade twice.
  2. Renaming or reinstalling the EA resets its settings, including the Channel ID. Check it after any reinstall.
  3. A magic filter skips manual trades. If a Receiver has Only copy these sender magic numbers set, a trade opened by hand (magic 0) will not copy. Leave it blank to copy everything.
Both terminals must be on the same computer. The copier shares a local file, so it cannot cross to a VPS or another machine.
Not seeing it?

Every trade copied twice. Check whether two Receivers are running on the same account, and remove the extra one.

Your safety nets

Three things to keep in mind.

1

One Receiver per account

Two Receivers on one account copy every trade twice. Keep one on each.

2

Match the Channel ID

The Channel ID is the only pairing. Check it after any reinstall.

3

Test on demo first

Pair two demo accounts and watch a few trades before you connect a live account.

!

Prop-firm accounts

Many firms allow copying between your own accounts and ban copying anyone else's trades. Read your firm's current rules before you connect a funded or evaluation account.

All done

You're set up.Nicely done.

Risk warning: Trading carries a high risk of loss and is not suitable for everyone. A copier repeats trades on every account it connects, including losing trades.
