Nothing here places a trade.

PFX Journal only reads your history. If the chip on the chart isn't green, the troubleshooting table tells you the fix. If a step doesn't look like the picture, that's normal: open the "Not seeing it?" box under it.

Before you start

Two checks. Tick them as you go.

Keep your private link private. Anyone with it can send data to your journal. Do not paste it in a chat or a screenshot.
1

Copy your private link

It comes from the account's page on the website.

  1. On the website, open Accounts and pick the MetaTrader 5 account.
  2. On the account's page, press Copy next to Your private link.
Copy it straight into MetaTrader in step 4. Do not save it in a note or a screenshot.
Not seeing it?

I can't see Your private link. Check the account is a MetaTrader 5 account. Only those have a private link for PFX Journal.

2

Allow the website in MetaTrader

One time only. MetaTrader blocks outside requests until you allow them.

  1. In MetaTrader 5, open Tools → Options → Expert Advisors.
  2. Tick Allow WebRequest for listed URL, then add https://app.precisionfx.io.
  3. Press OK.
Without this step the chip stays on ACTION NEEDED. That is the most common reason for no connection.
Not seeing it?

The chip says ACTION NEEDED. The website is not on MetaTrader's allowed list yet. Do this step, then attach again.

3

Attach PFX Journal to a chart

Any symbol, any timeframe, on the account you track.

  1. Drag PFX Journal onto any one chart on the account.
  2. Turn on Algo Trading with the toolbar button.
PFX Journal does not trade. Algo Trading is needed only so MetaTrader lets it send your history.
Not seeing it?

The chart shows no card. Check PFX Journal is on the chart, and that Algo Trading is green.

4

Paste the link and press OK

The link goes in one place only.

  1. In PFX Journal's settings, paste the link into Your private link.
  2. Press OK.
Paste it, then press OK. Do not type it by hand. A typo gives CHECK LINK.
Not seeing it?

The chip says CHECK LINK. Copy the link again from the account's page on the website, then paste it again.

5

Check the chip turns green

CONNECTED means your trades are on their way.

  1. The card on the chart turns CONNECTED.
  2. Your last 30 days of trades arrive straight away. New trades follow within seconds.
  3. Open your dashboard on the website to see them.
If a trade is missing, give it a minute. New trades follow within seconds once the chip is green.
Not seeing it?

No trades appear on the website. Check the chip says CONNECTED, then wait a few seconds and refresh the dashboard.

6

Know what each chip means

If it is not green, this is the fix.

  1. ACTION NEEDED: the website isn't on MetaTrader's allowed list yet. Do step 2.
  2. CHECK LINK: copy the link again from the account's page.
  3. RETRYING: nothing to do. It tries again on its own.
Not seeing it?

The chip is none of these. Read the message on the chart. The product's settings reference explains each setting. Send us the message if you're stuck.

Your safety nets

Three ways to keep it safe.

1

It never trades

PFX Journal reads your history and sends it. It places no orders.

2

Keep the link private

Anyone with the private link can send data to your journal.

3

Stop it on the chart

Remove PFX Journal from the chart to stop it sending.

Risk warning: Your journal records trades. It does not place orders, and connecting it does not change your broker account. MetaTrader and MQL5 are trademarks of MetaQuotes Ltd.; PrecisionFX is not affiliated with or endorsed by MetaQuotes.
